Welcome to the second annual Colonial BBQ Competition!

Saturday, June 10th, 2017
12:00 – 5:00
In Historic New Castle at Battery Park

About the Event

Gates are open to the Public at Noon

The BBQ festival and competition benefits New Castle Charities. Your $5.00 entry fee covers the costs of hosting this event: event insurance, park fees, music and entertainment, staging, tent and table rentals and more. New Castle Charities is the benefactor of the barbecue event. The nonprofit exists to assist area homeowners and improvements to Battery Park.

What to expect: You’ll hear some great music, find barbecue for sale, and see competition teams from several area states. The teams love to talk about what they do, so please do not be shy! Teams will start cooking late Friday night, and begin turning in their finished products to the trained, certified, Kansas City BBQ Society judges beginning at 12:00 Saturday afternoon. Their final submissions are turned in at 1:30 PM. Interested in judging someday? Contact KCBS at www.kcbs.us and find a training class nearby!

Your $5 entry fee is appreciated. The money goes to cover the thousands of dollars it takes to organize an event like this. Tent and table rentals, bands and staging, park fees, bathrooms and more are a small part of these costs. Any revenue in excess of expenses is used by New Castle Charities to assist local homeowners, make improvements to Battery Park, and host this event next year!

A December 17, 2015 letter from the IRS to New Castle Charities affirming this tax status is available here.

About Historic New Castle

Step back in time and experience the charm and beauty of colonial New Castle. Walk the cobblestone streets and enjoy the historic sites of this riverfront City. Unlike many historic communities, New Castle is a residential town where people live and work. Each house reflects the individuality of its past and present owners. Because New Castle has been named a National Landmark Historic Area, all renovations and restorations are carefully supervised. This small, picturesque City allows vacationers, as well as business travelers, a refreshing respite from the pressures of daily life.
